nice course, need to fix up the fairways, but seeing as it is near the river, you expect to see some birds, but other than that, awesome course

We played this course last week. I'm a big fan of Valleybrook CC. Both courses are owned by Jaws and give discounts for law enforcement, so we decided to try Riverwinds also.
Weather was terrible, but we were anxious to get some golf in. It was cloudy and slightly over freezing. For starters, I understand it was a lousy weather day, but someone could've atleast put the pins in the holes, and not just lying on the green. secondly, I have NEVER seen so much goose poop in my life. You couldn't even putt. Since the weather was so bad, we were literally the only golfers on the course. One of our guys is just starting, so we were taking the opportunity of having the course to ourselves to trying to help him get the hang of the game. Needless to say it took almost 3 hours to finish the front 9.
We went to the clubhouse to warm up and they tried to charge us for an additional round. When we tried to explain, we were basically treated like liars. The hag manager even had the ranger tail us the entire back nine to make sure we weren't trying to get over on her.
We were the ONLY business for the day, and were being treated like criminals. I never left a course with such a bad taste in my mouth. I wouldn't go back to that course to play free for life.

The condition of some of the greens and most of the traps are lacking, but this is a very good layout. Don't know what the course looked like in early spring, but even if it was in ragged condition the layout alone makes it better than any public course in Gloucester county. Have you been to Beckett lately? or how about Maple Ridge? Riverwinds is head and shoulders above them. This can be a tough course for beginners because of the thick and unforgiving heather on every hole, but for a real challenge step to the back tees: 7,000+ yrds, 73.8 rating and 135 slope.

The course is mediocre at best and overly expensive for what you get.

This course was in the worst shape i have ever seen any course I have played in 35 years. I understand that they are going through a ownership change but this was absolutely ridiculous! The fact that they still charged top rate and did not even warn me of the conditions was pure robbery.

For those who have not been here the course has definately improved since Jaworski took over. The fairways and greens were in great shape BUT the $75 cost was far too much for November. We normally play during the summer mid-week in the afternoon and the cost is about $45 which cannot be beat. Still one of my favorites.
